Website not appearing in search results?
If your website isn't showing on Google, the cause is usually one of a handful of fixable problems, and few of them involve paying for ads. I find out what's holding your site back, fix the problems, and make sure search engines and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode describe your organisation accurately.
You work directly with me, there's no lock-in contract, and you keep full ownership of your website.
Why your website isn't appearing in search results
These are the problems I find most often when I review a site.
- Search engines have been told to ignore your site. A setting left switched on after development, or a blocked file, stops Google indexing your pages at all. This is more common than most people expect, and quick to fix.
- Rankings were lost in a rebuild. When a new site replaces an old one without redirects, years of search history disappear overnight and visitors land on error pages.
- Technical problems are getting in the way. Slow pages, poor mobile layouts, broken links and duplicate pages all make Google less willing to show your site.
- Your pages don’t use the words people search for. Content written in internal language, or services described too broadly, rarely matches what your audience types into Google.
- Search engines and AI tools are unsure who you are. Missing structured data or inconsistent details, such as a phone number shared with another business, lead Google and AI assistants to mix you up with someone else.
- Few other sites mention you. Links from partners, members, clients and trade bodies tell Google your organisation is credible, and most organisations have more of these relationships than they use.
SEO and AI search audit
A fixed-price, one-off review of your website, with a written report and a prioritised list of fixes. I check:
- whether Google indexes the pages you want found, and none you don’t
- site speed, mobile performance and Core Web Vitals
- page titles, descriptions, headings and internal links
- structured data (schema) and your business details across the web
- redirects, broken links and duplicate content
- how ChatGPT, Google’s AI Mode and other AI tools describe your organisation
- the searches your audience uses, compared with the words on your pages
You get a plain-English report with every issue ranked by impact, so you know what to fix first. I’m happy to make the fixes for you, or hand the list to your own team.
Price: £695 for sites up to around 50 pages, with larger or more complex sites quoted individually. If you add a care plan with ongoing SEO care within 30 days of receiving your report, I’ll credit £200 of the audit fee against your plan.
SEO built into every website I build
Every WordPress site I build or rebuild includes the technical foundations as standard: a clean page structure, fast loading, schema, an XML sitemap and setup in Google Search Console.
When I replace an existing site, I map every old address to its new page before launch, so you keep the rankings you’ve already earned. Skipping this step is one of the most expensive mistakes I see in website projects.
Ongoing SEO care
An add-on to my WordPress care plans, for organisations who want their search visibility checked and maintained every month.
- Monthly checks in Google Search Console for indexing problems, errors and drops in visibility
- Fixes to technical issues as they appear, within an agreed number of hours each month
- Schema and business details kept current as your organisation changes
- A quarterly check on how AI search tools describe you
- A short monthly report in plain English, with two or three recommendations for content to add or update
- Priority response if your search traffic drops suddenly
Price: £125 a month added to an Essential or Professional care plan, or £75 on a Partner plan, which already includes some of these checks. No minimum term. I’m not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to any price.
What I don't do
I don’t guarantee first-page rankings, because nobody controls where Google places a page. I also don’t buy links, run Google Ads or produce large volumes of filler content.
If you need any of these, I’ll point you to a specialist I trust.
How it works
- Take the two-minute search checker, or send me your website address.
- I review your site and send you a short summary of what I find, free of charge.
- If you want the full audit, I send a fixed quote, with no hidden extras and no lock-in.
- I fix the problems or hand the report to your team, and you decide whether to add ongoing SEO care.
FAQs
Technical fixes, such as removing a block on indexing, often show results within a few weeks. Gains from new content and links build over three to six months.
No. The audit stands alone, and you’re under no obligation to take anything further.
No. I fix whatever stops your site ranking and make your pages as strong as possible for the searches important to you, but nobody controls where Google places a page.
Yes, for the audit. The care plans and the SEO add-on are for WordPress sites only.
